We all want to feel valued and appreciated, and it’s no different in the workplace. A sincere thank-you during the holiday season will lift spirits, make employees feel valued, and ultimately put the thanks in Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is a perfect opportunity to share your workplace gratitude to everyone who contributes to the success of your business.

As the HR Works, Inc. website says in “Workplace Thanksgiving: An Attitude of Gratitude,” feeling gratitude also makes people happier. So when you say thanks at Thanksgiving, you’re helping yourself, too.
The article notes:
“Scientists are finding that an attitude of gratitude is a powerful contributor to a happy life. Some believe that it may be the single most effective way to increase happiness.”
“Get away from the workplace interruptions, emails, phones and noise to a place where you can think.”
how you can put the thanks in thanksgiving
Take a minute and think about:
- Employees’ discretionary efforts—Who went above and beyond to satisfy customers?
- Employees who stayed strong through hard times—Every year poses challenges. Who rolled up their sleeves to help solve yours?
- Managers—Who handled difficult decisions objectively and fairly? Which managers were approachable and willing to listen to employees?
- Colleagues—Who among your peers provided advice and assistance when you needed it?
- Loyal customers—Who’s stayed with your business through good times and bad?
- Flexible suppliers or vendors—Who shifted their services to meet your needs?
- Community—Which organizations have supported your company over the years?
It’s easy to take people for granted, especially when business is busy. But what better way to start out the Thanksgiving season than to thank them?
It can be a simple as a sincere, thoughtful thank you note.
Thanksgiving is the perfect time to consider ways to thank your hard-working staff that not only makes them feel valued and appreciated but provides benefit to the community at large.
Consider hosting a Thanksgiving luncheon and ask colleagues to bring food contributions to create Thanksgiving Dinner baskets for donation to a local shelter, church or food pantry for families in need. It’s an easy way for everyone to feel involved, appreciated and grateful themselves.
However you choose to say thanks this Thanksgiving in the workplace, your employees will be happier and so will you.
Here at gThankYou!, we wish you the best for a very happy Thanksgiving.
