Holiday gifts are a great way to show your employees how much you appreciate them and the work they do.
But between wrapping up this year and planning for the next —at work and at home—who has time to shop for employee holiday gifts that everyone will like, use, and value? No one. That’s who.

Gifts vs. Cash: How do they compare?
gThankYou! to the rescue! With just a couple of online keystrokes or a quick phone call, you can order our gThankYou! Certificates of Gratitude for Turkey or Ham, complete with FREE customized holiday-themed ‘Thank You’ cards.
Your employees can shop at their favorite stores—when they want, where they want—and choose the ham or turkey that fits their holiday needs. Workers will know you care about them and understand their busy lives when you make it easy and convenient for them to have a great holiday dinner. They’re sure to think warmly of you as they enjoy their holidays.
Research shows that gifts motivate employees. In a Harvard Business Review blog, “Forget About That Cash Bonus,” Ray Fisman cites a classic study by Nobel Laureate George Akerlof, a pioneer in the field of behavioral economics, which focus on gift exchange in the workplace.

Akerlof mostly had money in mind:
“A [2012] study … by German and Swiss researchers took a more literal position on the gift exchange hypothesis, suggesting that economists’ focus on cash might often be misplaced. The researchers found that gifts were far more motivating to short-term employees than unexpected cash bonuses, effectively paying for themselves by improving productivity.”
This study refers to short-term lower-paid employees, but as Fisman observes:
“Many employees toiling away in stores, factories, and cubicles are desperate for a sense of meaning in their work lives. Even the smallest gesture of kindness that shows they’re part of an organization that actually cares can give them purpose—and that leads to motivation.”
“Half Of All Employers Will Offer Bonuses, Parties This Holiday Season,” says Rosemary Haefner (CareerBuilder HR vice president) in a Forbes article by Jacquelyn Smith.
“Whether it’s a party, bonus or gift, the gesture shows employees that their efforts are appreciated and valued. If it’s in the budget, it is always a good idea to let workers know that they are valued by the company.”
A 2013 CareerBuilder press release, “Workers Can Expect Holiday Cheer in the Office This Year in the Form of Bonuses, Parties, and Gifts, Finds CareerBuilder’s Annual Holiday Survey,” showed that 35% of employers planned to give employee holiday gifts last year. This is on par with the previous year.
Hopefully it will be higher this year, since workers are so appreciative. Order your gThankYou! Turkey or Ham Gift Certificates and FREE enclosure cards today, so you’re among the generous, appreciated group of holiday gift-giving employers.
