‘Tis the season for holiday office parties, where you can let down your hair a little and hear about your coworkers’ kids over punch and cookies.
But you’ll never be the prince of the office party potluck with store bought cut-out cookies or a cheese tray from the supermarket. Try some of these ideas for office party dishes that will make you the toast of the break room.

A cheese ball is a holiday appetizer classic for good reason: it’s easy but feels decadent, and who doesn’t love cheese?

This version, courtesy of Kraft, combines sharp cheddar cheese and smooth cream cheese, beat together with onions, red bell peppers, Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice. Roll the finished ball in toasted pecans, serve with buttery crackers and you have an office party hit.

Jazz up a Christmas office party fruit tray with a pretty tree-shaped fruit platter and a simple dip, like this one from Better Homes and Gardens. An easy combination of cream cheese (use full fat for the best flavor), sour cream or plain yogurt, brown sugar, vanilla and a splash of milk, this dip comes together quickly. Add a dash of cinnamon on top for color.
Toasted nuts are always a win for an office party, and these are some of the best. Both Ina Garten and Nigella Lawson have included some version of the Union Square Cafe spiced rosemary nuts in their cookbooks.
The combination is simple and addictive: a mix of cashews, pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts and whatever else you like, with fresh rosemary, cayenne, brown sugar, kosher salt and a healthy dose of butter.
